Cards EV Lab

Know what you're opening before you rip.

What is EV?

Expected Value

EV (Expected Value) is the average dollar amount of cards you can expect to pull from a sealed box, based on current market prices and known pull rates. If the EV is higher than the box price, the box is a "positive EV" product. If it's lower, you're statistically likely to lose money opening it.

Why it matters

Whether you're a store owner deciding what product to crack for singles, or a collector wondering if it's worth ripping a box instead of buying singles, EV gives you a data-driven answer. It doesn't guarantee results for any single box, but over many boxes, the math holds up.

How we calculate it

We use community-verified pull rates for each rarity tier and live market prices from TCGPlayer. The simulator runs a Monte Carlo-style random box opening using these rates, so each simulation gives you a realistic sample of what you might pull.
